Marc Chagall Stained Glass Windows in Zurich

Zurich is an amazing and beautiful city and the tourists who visit it often have a difficult time deciding where they should visit first. One of the most amazing features of the city is its architecture, and some of these great historic buildings also feature spectacular artwork as part of their features. The Fraumunster church, which means our lady’s minster, is one of these and is also one of the great historic buildings of the city. It was built prior to the year 900 and features a choir that dates from the Romanesque period. The stained class choir windows were designed by artist Marc Chagall . During its latest renovation a visitor’s scaffolding was added that allows from some of the most spectacular panoramic views of Zurich you can find anywhere.

Chagall designed the five large stained glass windows in the abbey. Each of these has a dominant color, one of the factors that was prominent to his work, and also depicts a Christian story. The prophets are the subject of one and it depicts the ascent of Elijah. Jacob and his dreams of heaven are the theme if another. Christ and various aspects of his life are a third. The final two windows represent the law and depict Moses looking down on the suffering of his people and Zion, with the triumph and angel that are representative of the end of the world. Chagall was extremely well known and respected for his paintings, and also created a number of great stained glass work. He has windows in churches and buildings in various places around the world. They were installed in Fraumunster in 1970. These are part of the reason the church is a favorite place to visit for the guests in the Zurich hotels .

Phoenix, Arizona is an incredible city with a diverse population and dynamic cultural atmosphere. It is located in the heart of the state and it is also the capital. It is one of the largest cities in the country and it is frequently referred to as the Valley of the Sun. This refers to the entire metropolitan region, which includes neighboring cities such as Glendale, Tempe, Mesa and Scottsdale. There are numerous cultural attractions located in the downtown region and the beautiful desert landscape, which surrounds the city adds to its dynamic atmosphere.

One of the things that Phoenix is known for is the extreme heat that it experiences through a large portion of the year. Marrakech Arts Festival

Every summer there is a great festival going on in Marrakech that celebrates all of the local talent from crafts and clothing to music and dance. This was the 45th year of the National Festival of Popular Arts in Marrakech and it is a wonderful way to enjoy the culture of the city.

The festival goes on for nine days through out the city. Stages are built up in different areas of the city keeping the crowds moving around from place to place. The festival puts the spot light on many of the areas of Morocco each with its own costumes and music. It is a great way to see the differences between the people who live in Morocco.

Like many cultures that carry on the traditions of their ancestors, the people from different areas of Morocco are celebrating many traditional dance and music pieces. While you are visiting the festival you will see traditional music and art as well as Chaabi, Amazigh art, Moroccan songs, Aita and now many new modern twists on traditional pieces with the young generations pop art.

Alll you need is a room at one of the marrakech hotels with someone you love to come and immerse yourselves in the local culture of this great Moroccan city.

San Diego has always had a reputation as a town for leisure. Its lovely beaches, and endlessly fascinating tide pools, are a draw for people from all over the world. A weekend in the city at one of the top San Diego hotels can change a life for the better.

Besides all the wonderful things that the ocean and the restaurants can offer, there are also some very daring and innovative artists living and working here. Ricardo Dominguez , who’s still on the faculty at UCSD, has a cv as impressive as it gets. He’s been working for over 20 years in the digital and public realm, and his artistic thrust has been to bridge the two together.

Inspired by the work of the EZLN in Chiapas, he saw correspondences with his own computer-based works and their savvy use of the internet. Utilizing many of their techniques, and borrowing freely from their rhetoric, he has been making very interesting projects that have influence in the global community. He is widely considered to be a pioneer in the digital realm, and it’s one that’s becoming more populated every day by artists who are looking for ways of bridging the gap between the personal and the electronic.

Art and life are closer than they appear, and also worlds apart, but always more complex than a surface can suggest.

Fourth of July in San Diego

Who wouldn’t want to take an nice vacation in the beautiful Southern California city of San Diego? Well, this writer couldn’t think of a single person and even asked a few friends just to solidify the perspective, without going to the effort of conducting an official survey. So, while it’s not scientific, it is likely to be universally agreed that San Diego is an ideal summer vacation destination. In fact, a small group of my relatives spent the Fourth of July Weekend there, just last week. And I hope that statement doesn’t beg the question of why I wasn’t invited to go along.

My former brother-in-law, his parents, sister and their children spent the weekend there and watched the fireworks on of the beautiful beaches. They all agreed that it was one of the most beautiful and romantic fireworks displays they had witnessed in a long time or even their entire lives. In addition they had a great time and loved their accommodations in one of the best resorts San Diego . And coincidentally, they arrived in the city just end time to experience the closing days of the San Diego County Fair . This was an unexpected surprise though they certainly took advantage of all the great food that was offered and enjoyed the beautiful arts and crafts they saw. And while they had a great time this year, they inspired me to begin planning my trip to San Diego next summer.

London Style

The city of London is definitely synonymous with style in the culture of the time. It’s always been a far-reaching place, and where once there was empire, now there is a remarkable sense of fashion. Fashion sense, however, was never far from London, and even Shakespeare went on at length to discuss all the latest trends of the day, from all the countries with which England had relationships.

Today, it’s as much about style as it ever was, and the Style Council seems to come to mind when it comes to panache. That’s very likely due to the contributions that Paul Weller has made to culture. He is also very closely linked to style and fashion, and seems to have a particular knack for seeing and setting trends that the world notices. Now in his fifties, he is still as snappy a dresser as there ever was, and his videos entertain as much as they inspire desire to hit the streets of London and go shopping.

Perhaps that might be a bit antithetical to some of his projects from his Style Council days, and it also is slightly askew in terms of his relation to punk rock when he was with the Jam. But Weller has never been one to follow anyone else’s idea of propriety, and prefers to make his own way. It’s a marvelous thing, too, because the world needs new trends, and someone’s got to set them.

His modfather persona is one that evokes a longing to visit the city and see it in style from a stylish hotel London is famous for. There’s no reason not to see the city for oneself, and enjoy all it has to offer. The legacy from 1962 is still running strong, and visionaries like Weller keep pushing it from its fabulous present into an even better future.

Vegas Chapels

It’s one of the great folk stories in the consciousness of the people of the U.S., to have a friend who got hitched in Las Vegas. It’s a story that has just a couple common themes, and they usually revolve around these. Sudden infatuation and intoxication are usually the ingredients, and they almost always serve as a cautionary tale. A lot of these are probably no more than urban legends, because of the nature of the story, with a friend, or a friend of a friend being the main character.

Not that it can’t happen in Vegas. With so much splendor in its fantastic hotels, Las Vegas can infuse any moment with a whole lot of charm that might not hold up after the oxygen is back to a normal level, and life can be seen in direct light, unhindered with neon. But there are certainly a large number of wedding chapels here, although they do try their best to discourage the severely inebriated from making a move that’s legal, and at least a little bit permanent.

The history of chapels in the city is actually a delightful one, and it does speak to a honeymoon spirit, and one that can sometimes give blessings to true love. The Wee Kirk o’the Heather just might be the oldest, as it claims to be, having been doing this since 1940. A graduate student should certainly figure out how to turn their stories into a sociology dissertation. Somewhere in the history of these services, stories about a minister dressed as Elvis started circulating, and it may very well have been the stuff of urban legend as well. But when word gets around, and there’s money to be made, supply rises to meet the demand, and now there are several chapels in town that can do the Elvis wedding , and even the Wee Kirk offers a special package for lovers enamored with the King as much as each other.
