Visual Response to Fountains and Candlelight

Posted by Ann on August 19, 2010

When it comes to any kind of decor, the visual touches are absolutely influential on the mood, and can influence people in rather remarkable ways. It might seem obvious that the eye will catch details and respond accordingly, but there are levels of reaching family and guests that are likely deeper than expected. People are visual as well as linguistic in nature, and tend to respond to images and words with their own internal images and words. It’s one of the more exciting findings in psychological response, and can be very useful toward creating a perfect environment in the home.

In language theory, the idea is that people construct a world for themselves with words . In the current visual information age, there is also evidence that some people, perhaps half the population, thinks in images rather than words. Some tend to think in both at the same time.

For design, this information can be used in uncountable ways. It suggests that the perception of the viewer plays an active role in reading information on multiple levels. Fountains in a garden can add an instant sense of being refreshed, because the relationship that everyone has with water is so deeply rooted. The eye sees the fountain, and it sets off a series of visual associations along with a complicated narration about the feeling of water. Having candles in a room don’t simply make one feel romantic because the light is soft, but because they are related to heat, and the mind registers this, and begins telling itself stories in words as well as images.

Making the Move to a New City

Posted by Ann on March 5, 2010

Moving to a new city can be an exciting adventure. Not only will the city be a new, but from the moment you get there, everything will become new again. Whether it will be a new favorite coffee shop to hang out in, a new job or an entirely new set of friendships, this will be an experience filled with wonder and adventure. Some people feel the stress of the move, but what they really need to focus on are the opportunities.

The chance at finding the dream apartment or house that they have always wanted, or the opportunity to either escape the summer heat in the desert or the colder winters in the Eastern climates, it is a chance for positive change. Focusing on the positive will help to alleviate some of those aspects of moving that may produce unwarranted amounts of stress and frustration. It is always best if it is possible to visit the new city you are planning to move to before you make your final decision. In this way you can check out the neighborhoods of that city and choose the one that excites you the most.

You can also begin to make some decisions based on the houses or the apartments available , and if you are ready to do so, you can set up your new living arrangements before you have even packed up your old ones. You will have a better idea all around, for the ways in which to pack up your belongings. You will know what you need to get rid of, and the things you choose to keep will already have a place to go as you will be able to picture it all in your mind. The best way to go about relieving the stress of a move, is to remain calm and to stay organized . Early planning will help this take place each and every time, and give you the time to actually enjoy what it is your new adventure may bring.

Wedding Proposal in Portable Hot Tub

Posted by Ann on December 19, 2009

Kyle loved to watch the night sky. His passion for astronomy began as a young boy when his grandfather first taught him to tell time by the positioning of the stars and the moon and possibly if could see them the planets Jupiter and Mars. Of course it was the stars that were used to tell the time though the planets and moon had plenty of stories attached to them and Kyle’s grandfather told him a new one every time they were able to stand under those eternal time keepers.
When Kyle was twenty he was out with some friends when he noticed what a clear sky it was and how many of the constellations he could make out. A young woman named Jaime happened to be along that night and Kyle decided he would try and impress her. He was about to announce that he would tell the time by the stars when he noticed that his hand was finally the right size to do so. His grandfather had told him that an average sized adult male fist equaled approximately 20 degrees in the sky. Kyle’s plan worked and Jaime was duly impressed. That was the beginning of a great romance between the two and in it’s early development phase they would frequently look at the stars and Kyle taught Jaime many of the constellations.
Meanwhile, that was three years ago and the two of them rarely went out star gazing these days. Jaime and her roommates recently purchased one of the models of portable spas and she planned to have special evening with Kyle there while her roommates would be gone. It was an incredible evening and the two of them enjoyed a nice meal Jaime cooked herself before retiring to the hot tub. While they soaked Kyle looked up and noticed how clear the sky was. That brought back instant memories and pointed out the constellation of Orion to Jaime. They both reminisced about the early days and Kyle was suddenly struck with the desire to propose marriage. Jaime laughed and said it was typical for him to try and impress her under the stars. She also said yes, she would marry him.

Hot Tub Entertaining

Posted by Ann on December 15, 2009

Hot tubs are a great way to gather people together.  They make for perfectly excellent evenings at home, where your friends can come and hang out, enjoying each other’s company and spend the night talking about old times and new times.  There’s something almost equalizing about a hot tub, because it’s very difficult for anyone to turn down an invitation to spend time in hot water with massaging jets.  There are many different kinds of parties you can host as well.

There are the old favorite, the dinner party, where hamburgers and hot dogs and corn on the cob are served right off the grill, while your company enjoys the water.  These can be some of the finest memories of summer, and are precious to recall during the cold months of the year.  There are always options for polar bear clubs in the winter as well.  It’s all up to you, and you’ll get to explore all the options when you have your hot tub installed in your own home.  There are many places to buy them these days, but when it comes to low prices and high values, along with excellent customer service, choosehottubsdirect.com is clearly the way to go.  They help you at every step of the way, from selection, to shipping, to installation and maintenance, and the choices are superb.

It might be helpful, then, to decide what kinds of parties you see yourself having.  There are many optional features that you may want to have from the get-go, because they can make your setup even more perfect than it already is.  There are different kinds of lighting that can add some really spectacular fun to any occasion.  There are also wonderful media and entertainment systems, so you can play music with incredible sound, and even show movies and game on a large-screen television.  There are lots of options.  You may want to host large parties, or you may want something only for one other special someone.  There’s something here to meet everybody’s needs, and make for a magnificent time.

Just What is it That Makes Next Day Blinds So Special?

Posted by Ann on December 1, 2009

It just goes, that when your company works with the public, in either the service industry or in retail…in any company for that matter, that conflicts will arise that need to be resolved.  Should it happen at Next Day Blinds,  they listen to, understand, and resolve any issues quickly and effectively.  Different personalities are just bound to create different opinions, but a conflict with the customer is not necessarily a bad thing, it is an opportunity to really let your skills in customer service shine.  Growth is the result.

Growth is always an outcome, and just as two young girls on the playground who pull each other’s pigtails, end up the best of friends 30 years later, conflicts get resolved and greater bonds are created.  Although to be honest, a friend sent me to Next Day Blinds when I was renovating my painting studio, and since then I’ve sent about ten people their way, people who were looking for quality shades and blinds and creative direction, all provided at reasonable costs and with the greatest of customer service.  And each and every one has received the best of care.  As far as my research took me when I was deciding which company to go to, I found no evidence of customer reviews.

I mean one of my friends was so satisfied that she thinks from time to time, to stop in with fresh coffee for the staff, but that would be strange in this day and age.  No company is so appreciated by their customers and clients these days, right?  Wrong.  These are the companies will not only prosper during a recession, but the companies that will continue to grow far into the future.  It is a personal touch that is backed with knowledge and service that makes Next Day Blinds so special.  Who would have thought, that so many people as a result, felt so special and so taken care of, by the staff of window covering company?  Will wonders ever cease?

Next Day Blinds: Facilitating the Generation of Ideas

Posted by Ann on November 16, 2009

Ideas, creativity, innovation.  These are three elements of business in which everyone at Next Day Blinds is aware.  This is something that is setting businesses apart from the others, in a day and age where competition is tough, and consumers are choosy and very spend thrifty.  This effects every aspect of how the company runs their transactions, designs their products and attends to their customer service policies.

At Next Day Blinds, customer reviews are just opportunities for finding solutions.  The generation of ideas from staff is a two part process.  First of course, is the thinking stage, also known as the Expansion Stage.  This is where the manager, or the person in charge of the brain storming session, gives their ideas in an attempt to prompt those in the meeting into a territory where other ideas will ensue.  Consider the television show, “House“.  This is what Dr. House does with his team, he throws ideas out there for them to take and run with, it is a going back and forth, a very interactive conversation.  This is a great way not only to come up with new ideas for designs in blinds for windows and doors, but a great way to go about solving challenges that customers, employees or the company may be encountering.

The second stage is called Convergence.  This is when the leader of the meeting selects certain ideas, and really hones in on them, chooses the best ones for the particular subject at hand.  Both stages of the process are equally necessary and important.  Depending on how complex of a situation is being solved, both of these processes may take a bit of time.  There are a few elements that can make this entire creative process move more quickly and painlessly.

One of the elements is to have a clear understanding of just what everyone is dealing with.  For Next Day Blinds, are they discussing new designs for vertical or horizontal slated shades, or are they speaking of windows or office partitions?  This sounds simple, but it is important to know exactly, and I mean exactly, what everyone should be focused on.  In this way, this company remains one of the innovative forerunners in the home design and window treatment arena.

Portable Spas and Alpha Waves

Posted by Ann on October 26, 2009

Some of the most interesting studies in stress relief in recent decades has to do with brain waves, and particularly alpha waves.  There is a correlation between different kinds of relaxation and the ability to reach a state of mind that is called alpha.  Portable spas can be a great tool for getting to this state of consciousness, and having one in your own backyard is like having your own relaxation station right in your home.  Finding the right spa for you, of course, is very important.

You’ll want to find something that suits your needs, as well as your own personal sense of style.  Fortunately, there is a wide variety of hot tubs that can fulfill any requirement today.  You can find portable spas that are large enough to swim in, or small enough for intimate evenings for two.  The most popular, of course, are the ones that can accommodate a small group of friends, to allow you to use it for personal use, or to host a backyard barbecue party.  There are also many different options these days that new technologies have made possible, and spas with media centers, music, hdtv, as well as decorative lighting, are widely available.

It doesn’t necessarily matter how many people are over, because you can always get to a lovely state of relaxation, even among friends.  Spas have wonderful effects on the whole body, and you can get most of the benefits whether you are consciously trying to relax or not.  It is better, however, to spend some time every day focusing on doing nothing, and being in a hot tub can help.  Alpha waves come when you are at a state of calm that’s not quite meditation, and the brain registers this as the state that’s closest to dreaming.  It’s a very pleasant state of mind to be in, and it helps to unblock creativity, emotional health, as well as the simple joy of living.  A spa can be an excellent aid toward this, and with a little time and practice, you can get there in no time, and linger longer in that place that’s so close to dreaming.

Portable hot tub and patio are a perfect fit

Posted by Ann on September 28, 2009

We just moved into our first place. It is a small condo with a small but private patio. There in not anything on the patio, just a cement slab and a strip of dirt four feet deep and twenty four feet long and that would be all there is to tell about right now. My vision for the patio is to plant the four feet deep and twenty four feet long dirt strip with a variety of herbs, basil, thyme, rosemary, parsley, cilantro, mints, sage, lavender and throw in some wild flowers in between to attract beneficial insects, humming birds and dragonfly’s. The way the condo is set up there are sliding glass doors from the living room and from the master bedroom. So out side the bedroom door I wan to put in a portable hot tub.

I have decided on a portable hot tub because the patio has no out side access. Everything going on or coming off the patio has to come through the living room. There is a water faucet on the patio but no drain or connection to the city’s sewer there and running one there is very impractical. Also there is only a standard electrical out let on our new patio and running a higher voltage line all the way from the front of the condo would be more expensive than I care to get into. So all and all it makes sense.

Additionally the portability of the hot tub is nice. I don’t think we will be staying her more than ten years so it will be nice to know that the investment could be moved with us and not left behind and sold at a loss undoubtedly. A little more research to determine best pricing and models and we are a go. Now to the planting a landscaping so there will something nice to look at and enjoy while soaking in the hot tub.

The Wide Variety at Next Day Blinds

Posted by Ann on September 8, 2009

In cities or regions where the sun is always shining, considering the window treatments from Next Day Blinds,  for one’s house or apartment may be about more than just decoration and design.  Properly covered windows can make a substantial difference on the amount of money one spends each month on the electricity bill.

Now that being said, I remember driving around Phoenix in the summer time, and people had placed tin foil in their windows as a way to deflect the light and the heat from the sun.  Which served the purpose, but was not very pleasant to look at.  And, unlike Next Day Blinds, the tin foil way of covering the windows, keep out all of the light and would seem to me a bit claustrophobic, as the view from outside was completely gone.

Nowadays there are so many different styles to choose from.  Styles that will still cut down on heat and glare, but that will not take away one’s entire view, and styles that will add to the design and comfort of one’s home.  There are mini-blinds, Venetian blinds, wood blinds and PVC blinds.  Mini blinds have been popular for some time.  And since the slats are general much smaller than the standard blinds, they tend to be some of the least expensive.

Next Day Blinds has a wide variety of colors to choose from, and these are an economical way to find the covering and the color all in one.  The Venetian blind is simply blinds with horizontal slats, and are generally used more than the vertical styles.  Many of the PVC blinds are made to look as though they are wood, usually made from plastic however.  They are popular as well, for like the mini-blinds, they are relatively inexpensive.  There is so much to choose from now, that hopefully, the tin foiled windows of the Phoenix summer will become a thing of the past.

Backyard perfection

Posted by Ann on July 31, 2009

What make the perfect backyard? Is it several built in gas grills, fully equipped with a grill island for cooking outside on the Fourth of July?  Or is it something else? Like the jet is one of those amazingly relaxing ones that hot tub spas have?  I mean yeah, all that stuff is pretty awesome. But is that what really makes the perfect backyard?

I guess the perfect backyard totally depends on where you have it. In the mid west everyone had a swing set and a trampoline. But, then again we had about an acre of land and a deck. It was all about having space and a place for the kids to play as well as the adults. You just had to make sure you did not get eaten alive by bugs. Mosquitoes are so gross eww!

Now in the Southwest it’s all about having a swimming pool. If you don’t have a pool, you really don’t have much of a yard. If you live in Phoenix and the thermometer’s mercury is climbing towards 115 degrees, there is not much you can do outside except swim. And even then the water is pretty warm.

But really, no matter where you live your backyard is a unique space. It says a lot about you. If you grow a garden or put a basketball court back there, it’s all about making the space work for you and nobody else. It’s important to note that you don’t have to have a bunch of expensive toys to make the most out of your outdoor living area. You just need a little imagination and a plan on how to make it suit your needs.

Create yourself a backyard budget and stick to it. If you have a space that works for you, that’s all that matters.

Get the most out of your home renovation budget

Posted by Ann on July 23, 2009

Home renovations may have taken the back burner in your budget. And making over your home seems like a daunting and expensive undertaking. But you don’t have to spend a ton of dough to change up your home. There are cosmetic things that you can do to make the most out of your budget, until you can afford to re do that old bathroom or purchase some new bedroom furniture.

Something you can think about doing is using paint to give your home a different look and feel. Consider doing this yourself and you can save a lot of money. If you are feeling crafty you should check out some design tips and use painter’s tape to create a custom look. It will look like you paid a professional designer to come in and paint and design something especially for you. Paint freshens up any room and can bring light into a space with the right kind of color combinations. Make it a family bonding experience or invite over some friends for painting and cocktails.

Another way to renovate your home without spending a lot of money is to install new window shades. Next Day Blinds is a good place to start. They have a great website that has tons of choices so you can pre-shop online. Next Day Blinds also has show rooms near the Washington DC area. Next Day Blinds has a great reputation for customer service as well.

Another thing you can think about doing is to purchase some new things for your home. Think about buying some new area rugs or candles. They can really change the mood of a room and make it a lot more inviting. No matter what you decide to do, think about how you can do it on the cheap to make it more affordable. A little bit of design goes a long way.

Home renovations

Posted by Ann on July 16, 2009

Home renovations may be taking a back seat to expenses that are more pressing, say bills and loan payments. Just because people are cutting back, it doesn’t mean you still can’t give your house a mini face-lift. There are a number of things you can do to change the look and feel of your home without breaking the bank. Here are some options for the renovator on a budget.

Give your home a fresh coat of paint. Paint is one of the easiest and least expensive ways to change the way that your home looks. And the best part is you can even change up the look of your house, by only buying a single can. Consider making some accent walls in your home. This can change up the look of your home, but it requires minimal effort because all you have to do is paint one wall. Pick a color that is bold but still goes with the color palette you already have in your home and you can give your home a new feeling in no time flat.

Consider getting new blinds. New blinds are a simple way to update your home and save money on your heating and air conditioning bills. Now that its summertime it is a good idea to consider how much your cooling bill is costing you. By spending a little money on new blinds, you could end up saving money in the long run. A good place to start is Next Day Blinds. Their site is really comprehensive and their variety is top notch. Next Day Blinds can even help you with design issues you may have.

You don’t have to put your home renovation plans on hold. You can get some renovations done and do them cheap. A little bit goes a long way when it comes to doing home renovations. All you need is a little money and some time and do it yourself goals are easily accomplished.

The Benefits of Steam Saunas and Hot Tubs

Posted by Ann on June 30, 2009

It is no secret that hot tubs serve to reduce stress, relieve tension in muscles and the tension in the mind due to every day life.  It eases aches and pains, and will promote healing of sprains or torn ligaments.  What may not be so widely known is that they can help in the recovery of pneumonia and other upper respiratory infections such as influenza, asthma, the common cold and bronchitis.  Hot water be it in hot tubs such as those found at choosehottubsdirect.com, or that in the form of steam in saunas with open the air ways of the lungs and will also get the blood circulating, transport the white blood cells to the areas affected.  This promotes and hastens the healing process, and allows one to simply breathe better.

Those suffering from rheumatoid arthritis feel the increased benefit when combining a soak, with any for of exercise that takes place in the water, be it aerobics or swimming, and a nice long massage.  Joint pain and swelling is relieved and the increase in the flow of the blood, again is beneficial to the ongoing treatment of arthritis.  Some studies have been done on patients that have been part of hydrotherapy sessions in the Dead Sea in Israel.  The sea water has been shown to be even more beneficial, according to studies performed by the NIH, in the Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine.  These studies have been relatively small however, and more in depth studies over longer periods of time will be necessary in drawing any conclusive findings.

Regardless, they do report that hydrotherapy is a practice that is low risk, as long as the body is not overly exposed to water that is either too hot or too cold.  They stress the importance of staying hydrated as well, as soaking in a hot tub will cause one to perspire.  Those who will need to consult with their physician before beginning any program are those whose conditions may become worsened, such as in diabetes, or people with injuries which could be made worse by jets that are too powerful.  Those with nerve damage will need to practice the utmost care as it may be difficult for them to feel when the temperature of the water is too hot or cold.  Pregnant women will need to be aware of the temperature as well, as hot water will cause damage to their unborn.  There are many benefits to be gained by soaking in hot tubs, just common sense and knowledge are necessary when decided whether or not it is perfect for any given individual.

Grilling a Turkey

Posted by Ann on June 29, 2009

There is so much versatility with outdoor kitchens that once you start working with them, you’ll wonder how you ever did anything without the grill.  There are an infinite number of new taste combinations that are suddenly available to you.  With a little time, you’ll become knowledgeable in all sorts of cooking techniques that make incredible foods.  You’ll also come to learn that grilling is not just about meat, but also applies to vegetables and fruits, even desserts.  There are unexpected taste combinations in grilling, but also unexpected foods that can be grilled, like the holiday turkey.

It may seem odd to some to consider cooking that large bird in your outdoor kitchen, but a little investigation will reveal that there are many who would never consider anything else.  There is a considerable advantage in grilling a turkey on the barbecue, namely, that it frees up all that space in the kitchen.  But it also makes some unique tastes in the turkey meat, cooks a bird that is always juicy, and, with a little skill, takes less time than the conventional oven.

For most recipes for grilling a turkey, the idea is to use indirect heat.  This method of cooking on the grill uses the heat to surround the turkey, rather than cooking it directly over the red-hot flame.  This helps to cook the meat thoroughly, and to penetrate to the interior of the bird.  It also allows for a slower cooking method that will help to keep the meat thoroughly juicy, and to let the flavors seep deeply into the flesh.  There are different ideas for seasoning, and, although using your great-grandmother’s recipe will always put a smile on everyone’s face, it’s also wise to experiment with new flavors.  Cooking in an outdoor kitchen can be as much about ingenuity as tradition, and a blend of each will have the neighbors wondering how they got to be so lucky to live so close to heaven.

Hot Tub for Sale? Take Advantage

Posted by Ann on June 29, 2009

One thing to consider when one finds a hot tub for sale, is that there are many benefits that will be provided to ones health when one decides to purchase that hot tub.  In this day and age, many people feel they do not have the time to take a long soak in a tub.  Truth is that they may just think they do not have the time, as just fifteen minutes a day, immersed in hot water, will provide the benefits.  In fact, that is the recommended amount of time to spend soaking, just fifteen minutes.  It’s a shame really, because the soothing effects of a bath are something everyone should really take the time out to provide themselves.  Water is a natural healing element.  The effects on the muscles, the joints and the skin are physical effects, just as the effects on the endocrine system and the organs and the nerves.  Hot water will quiet a noisy body.  Cold water by contrast, will invigorate and stimulate the body.  This is the perfect cure for a stressful and hectic lifestyle, nerves are soothed thereby reducing and relieving stress.

The Mayo Clinic performed a study and found that soaking in a hot tub provides one with the benefits of exercise, without the strain and pressure on the heart.  Blood pressure lowers, and the heart rate increases, similar to daily exercise.  The heart will speed up a bit at first, but will then regulate itself and actually slow down.  Blood flow increases, as the pressure drops.  Hot tubs have been proven to be one aspect in curbing insomnia.  One should soak at one hundred and three degrees a couple hours before lying down to sleep.  This may all be a circular process, as hectic lives cause insomnia, hot tubs reduce stress, thereby reducing the incidence of sleepless nights.  A relaxed body, is a body ready for sleep.  Soaking a bit before sleep, also just gives the mind and the body the time to wind down.  Transition from the life of the day, is eased as one is soaking.  As opposed to jumping into the bed the second one gets home.  The weightlessness of the body that the hot water induces, also introduces one to the weightlessness of sleep, easing out of a hard day, into a night filled with sweet dreams and rejuvenation.

Home improvement compromises

Posted by Ann on June 1, 2009

When it comes to home decorating, it can be rather pricy in some areas. And there are places where going super pricey is not only not necessary, it is also unwise.  Escpecially since now more than ever people have less money to throw into their home improvement budget you should take a serious sit down with yourself and figure out where you are most likely to overspend or in other ways how you could save money.

A valuable tip is to figure out if any of the pieces you are looking to buy are a little over the top. Ask yourself if you can find this furniture for cheaper? Have you checked Ikea? Or is Ikea even an option for you? There are so many amazing things there, and if you are not handy and that is why you shy away from it, then you can always place an ad in your local classified ads or on Craigslist for someone to put the things you buy together for you.

A place where a lot of people tend to spend is on their window treatments. And this might be a place to leave installation to the experts becuase doing it yourself if you are not very precise can lead to disaster. There are services that offer Next day blinds. So you are given instant gratification right after you put the money up for your new window treatments. Unlike having next day blinds, that cannot be said for most of the other things you will inevitably end up paying for and not seeing the result for awhile.

Having next day blinds installed is a great way to also give you other ideas about where you can save for your space. It is also wise to check furniture stores that are stictly for furniture that perhaps helped stage a model home. Check your local area listings for things like that.

Just remember that it just takes a little effort to get you home improvement chugging along at the price you want to pay. Good Luck!

Next Day Blinds: Proper Window Measurement is Key to Getting Just the Right Fit

Posted by Ann on May 18, 2009

Many may not understand the importance of proper window measurement in fitting window treatments for blinds. If you do, then you’ll consider this post old hat.

The treatments at Next Day Blinds are made to fit your windows. And this requires proper measurements.

If you choose to measure the windows on your own, here are some things to consider:

Do you have the proper tools?

* To preserve accuracy, you will need a sturdy steel tape measure.
* To reach the windows that need measuring, you will also need a ladder. Don’t forget to follow safety procedures – have someone to spot you while you take note of the measurements.

Do you know what you are measuring?

* Prepare a list of the windows you will be measuring ahead of time and identify any uniquely shaped windows.
* Know what style of window treatment you are measuring for. How you measure the window will be different depending on the type of mount (inside or outside).

If you have additional questions about measuring your windows, read these helpful hints or stop into our showroom for a demonstration.”

Remodeling For Summer – Preparing For The Heat

Posted by Langston on April 12, 2009

With summer comes long days and fun in the sun, but if your home isn’t prepared for the heat the summertime can be downright hot and dismal. Before the heat rises, take a good look at your home and identify areas that may need remodeling. Being prepared for the heat will make life easier, and cooler, for you during the hottest part of the year.

Fans – Check to be sure your ceiling fans and portable cooling devices are operational. In the early spring, you won’t have to run the air conditioner if you use fans appropriately. If you haven’t considered ceiling fans, late winter or early spring is the best time to start checking out different models and see if there is a good match for you. Installing them as soon as possible will give you the most time to enjoy them during the spring, summer and even the warmer days in the fall.

Air Conditioners – Don’t forget to have the Freon levels in your air conditioner unit checked. Any leaks or damage caused by the winter months should be addressed before you need the A/C in the peak of the summer’s heat.

Doors and Windows – When you get the air conditioning running, you won’t want any of it to slip outside. To keep your home cool, check the seals on your doors and windows to ensure they haven’t been damaged by the winter weather. Also take a look at your window blinds – some shades will actually help keep the heat out and provide additional insulation without sacrificing the amount of natural light that comes into your home. Simply changing the style of blinds may be just the change you need to improve the natural cooling within a room.

Remodeling before things get hot will keep you cool this summer.

Rug Pads Do More Than Prevent Falls

Posted by Ann on July 30, 2008

Rug pads are a necessary purchase if you have any type of area rug in your home. Area rugs bunch up at time and this can easily cause a fall. By purchasing rug pads, you will help keep your rugs secure and prevent accidents.

Rug pads also do a lot of good under any types of rug. I have a shag rug in my bedroom. I choose shag because it is very cushiony. The rug pad not only secures it, it makes it even softer underfoot.

Great Selection with Next Day Blinds

Posted by Ann on July 30, 2008

Getting new window blinds should not be a hassle and it should not stress you out. But for many it is a very nerve-wracking time. It’s hard to make sure your measurements are precise and to know all of your options.

I went with a company out of the Maryland area called Next Day Blinds. They offer several ways to shop. For instance you could go into one of their many stores, you could shop online or they will even go to your house for an in-home consultation.

Next Day Blinds also has an incredible selection. They have vertical and horizontal blinds. Roman blinds. Plantation shutters and even Venetian blinds. They had so much to choose from that I found it amazing.

I got new blinds for my kitchen but now that I know how great of an experience it can be, I’m going to contact Next Day Blinds about the rest of my house. And since their products are so reasonably priced, I can afford to@

Bamboo Rugs from Natural Area Rugs

Posted by Ann on June 16, 2008

I really enjoy having tile floors throughout my house. Because dirt cannot hide on tile, my home is a lot cleaner than it would otherwise be. But my feet get cold and the rooms seem empty without any rugs.

That is why I have bamboo rugs in my living room. I have a large one under the couch and coffee table and a smaller one under the dinner table. They add a lot of warmth, aesthetically speaking, to my house and they help keep my feet warm.

I use rug pads under them which prevents them from slipping and they are very easy to clean. I have a shag rug in my bedroom and I love it because it makes the decor come together and it keeps my feet warm when I get out of bed.

Rugs serve so many purposes, even if you have carpet throughout your house. They can protect your carpet and help the coordination of the rooms.

Window Blinds on Memorial Day

Posted by Ann on May 23, 2008

I am getting new window blinds this Monday, Memorial Day, because Next Day Blinds is coming to my house for an in-home consultation. I just love getting new blinds because they also make my house look better.

I saw a Next Day Blinds commercial the other day and I loved the blinds they showed. They have something to fit every budget and something to fit every interior decorating style.

Blinds do more than make the general aesthetic better, they help keep the sun out and that saves on my cooling. They also add to the decor and they help protect my privacy.
